Python bot shows “Missing Main File” after selecting bot.py

Posted by thetester in bugs.

Hi, I’m trying to start a Python Discord bot, but the panel keeps showing “Missing Main File” even after I select bot.py using “Use as startup file” and click Start. My project is uploaded as a ZIP and/or folder. The file picker shows the project folder and ZIP at the container root, so I’m unsure whether bot.py is nested or whether the startup file selection is being saved correctly. Could you please help me confirm: 1. Where bot.py needs to be located in the file manager. 2. What exact value the Python startup file setting should contain if bot.py is inside a subfolder. 3. Whether I need to extract the ZIP or change the startup command. I can provide screenshots of my Files and Startup pages. I’ll hide my Discord token and API keys.

is inside the project folder, not at the container root. The second screenshot confirms the picker saved a startup file path, but it needs to point to the file relative to the root. 1. Make sure the ZIP has been unarchived in Files; selecting a file inside a ZIP won’t work. 2. In Startup, set the Python startup file to: Don’t include . 3. If you changed the startup command, click Reset to Default , save, and start again. If the folder name differs in Files, use its exact name in the path. Startup settings guide
