Do same IP accounts get blocked?

Hey! So long story short, my roommate has an account with you all to host a project of his own and recommended this to me however I know some hosting block accounts from the same IP if there's more than one account. My worry is that if I were to make an account, it may get him / his bots in trouble or prevent me from using the host. Just wondering if some clarification and help could be provided! Thanks!
